Group classes are designed to offer you and your dog the opportunity to learn in a social setting for you and your dog. It provides an opportunity to practice in a complex distracting environment for your dog. Dogs don't generalize well, they may easily learn to 'sit' in the confines of the home, but don't generalize this behavior outside the home. The class setting begins the process of generalization for learned skills.
Group classes are also effective confidence builders for dogs – they'll learn self-control in the distracting environment and will learn to focus on you as their leader. The confidence, self-control and socialization are keys to having a well balanced dog inside and outside of the home.
All classes will begin with questions from students and address dealing with any common behavior problems at home (drop it, give it, chewing, excessive barking, jumping up or on furniture uninvited). The full course will address attention skills, leash respect, sit, stay, down, come, No Street/ Street Safety, as well as socialization for the dogs.
